published in the Winter 2003 Newsletter

Co-chairs Becky Center and Cathy Roach are putting together what promises to be another splendid DPA Fly-in during the Wright Brothers centenary festivities in Dayton, Ohio, this coming summer.

The dates are July 14 through 20, the last week of the three-week (July 2-20) Centennial of Powered Flight celebration in Dayton.

Come early if you feel like it, to enjoy some of the events of this centennial. For instance, there'll be a balloon celebration July 4-6 and an international blimp meet July 11-13, both at the U.S. Air Force Museum at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton. From July 11-13 there'll be a Black Cultural Festival in Dayton honoring the Tuskegee Airmen of World War II. From July 17-20 there'll be a big air show at Dayton International Airport. We'll be seeing some of these events as part of our daily scheduled activities.

Visitors can also enjoy the United States Air Force Museum itself, the Dayton Aviation Heritage National Historical Park, which includes the Wright Cycle Shop, the Huffman Prairie Flying Field, the 1905 Wright Flyer at Carillon Historical Park and the Wright Brothers Memorial; and the Wright B Flyer Museum.

This Boeing P-26 can be seen at the U.S. Air Force Museum at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio, site of the 2003 DPA Fly-in.
