Becoming a Sponsor

The Deaf Pilots Association invites you to become a sponsor for our 15th Annual Fly-in, which will be held at Corona, California on June, 16th - June, 21st, 2008.

Background:

DPA demonstrates to the world at large that deaf people can indeed become pilots despite not being able to hear. DPA represents deaf pilots' interests with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA), Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA), and the National Association of Flight Instructors (NAFI). We have successfully influenced FAA regulations to maintain and enhance deaf persons' right to fly. Each year, DPA organizes a week-long fly-in drawing members and their families and friends from all over the world to enjoy the fellowship of flight, develop and maintain flight proficiency, increase awareness of flight safety, and to discuss issues of importance.

Demographics:

DPA attracts deaf and hard-of-hearing pilots from all over the world, from ages 17 to 80. By virtue and rarity of their accomplishments, DPA pilots are highly visible in their respective communities, and as such, have influence on public opinion. As risk-takers, they are early adopters of cutting-edge developments in technology and products.

Some of these pilots own their aircraft as well.

Purpose:

Your sponsorship will underwrite some of the costs of organizing the 15th annual fly-in at Corona, California, and help us develop some new programs to attract more young deaf people to the world of aviation. For example, we desire to establish a Scholarship Fund to assist with flight training.

We also advocate for the captioning of educational videotapes and DVD's by various aviation organizations and businesses that can be leveraged in our educational programs, such as Sporty's "What You Should Know" Series and "One Six Right".
