Getting There

Of course, the best way to get there is to fly your own airplane right into South County Airport! However, if that's not possible, here are some other ways to get there.

Sixteen major airlines offer daily flights to San Jose International Airport (SJC), the closest commercial airport, which serves the largest city in northern California. Additional flights are available into San Francisco International Airport (SFO), located 62 miles northwest of South County Airport, and Oakland International Airport (OAK), located 61 miles north, on the east side of San Francisco Bay. It is strongly recommended that you fly into San Jose International Airport (SJC), if at all possible, as it is much closer to South County Airport.

Five rental car companies offer rental counters inside the SJC terminals, and seven additional companies offer rental cars just off the airport. From SJC, it's a thirty-minute drive straight along Highway 101 south to San Martin.

Enterprise Rent A Car has two branch offices within seven miles of South County Airport, if you want to rent a car after flying your own aircraft into Q99.

Daily bus service is available from Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) between San Jose and San Martin. Limited commuter train service is provided by CalTrain between San Jose and San Martin on weekdays only. The San Martin train station is less than a mile's walk from South County Airport.

If you are driving to the fly-in from outside the San Francisco Bay Area, here are some suggested routes:

  • From the south: take either Highway 101 north to San Martin, or Interstate 5 to Highway 152 west to Gilroy, then Highway 101 north to San Martin.
  • From the north: take Highway 101 south to San Martin, or Interstate 80 west, then Interstate 880 south, to Highway 101 south to San Martin.
  • From the east: take Interstate 80 west through Reno and Sacramento, then Interstate 880 south, to Highway 101 south to San Martin.
