Deaf Pilots Association’s 20 Year Anniversary (2014)

Hello fellow Deaf aviators and everyone!!!

We have several cool things we would like to share with you.

This year is a cause for A MAJOR CELEBRATION and a hearty congrats to the Deaf Pilots Association for reaching their 20 year milestone since the organization’s founding in 1994 by co-founders Jack Kelsey and Clyde Smith!!

The Deaf Pilots Association will be celebrating its 20 year anniversary at Knoxville Downtown Island Airport (KDKX) in Knoxville, Tennessee, where our predecessor organization – the International Deaf Pilots Association (IDPA) – was born. Toks Desalu, your fly-in host, will be spearheading our organization’s historic event and has put together a website with details on what to expect.

We hope you will consider joining us as we celebrate 20 years and fly out to interesting local destinations.

See our video post on Facebook for a preview of our fly-in!

This year is also election year. We hope you’ll also consider becoming an Active Member of our very unique and special organization and run for a position with one of the six offices within the organization that consist of the President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and two Directors.

Or you could join and show your support by becoming an Associate Member.

Active Membership is $35 per year, and Associate Membership is $20 per year.

ANYONE can become an Associate Member…this includes those who can hear and those who do not fly, But to qualify as an Active Member, you must be deaf or hard-of-hearing, be at least a student pilot, and show evidence of taking ground or flight training. Home self-study ground school courses such as available through Sporty’s, Jeppesen, and Gliem counts.

Only Active Members have the power to vote and run for office.

We also have a very special announcement to make!!! To find out what it is, go to our Vlog on Facebook by clicking the picture below!

Whew! That’s about all we have for now. More as I know it.

Looking forward to seeing you all at Knoxville!
